Downsizing with Style & Ease
This client transitioned from a spacious and beautifully furnished four-bedroom home to a one-bedroom apartment in a retirement community, seeking a greater sense of connection and community. As she planned to keep her original home, the challenge was to thoughtfully curate and adapt key pieces for her new, smaller space.
To complement her vintage and antique furniture, we selected a few new, appropriately scaled pieces that suited the apartment while maintaining her classic aesthetic. The design combined traditional elements with modern touches, resulting in a cohesive and inviting environment.
The entire project was completed in just three days. Our process began with a planning meeting to define her needs, create a layout, and establish a move timeline. I then sourced new pieces, including a beautiful olive green bedroom set that paired perfectly with her vintage cane headboard, new bedding, coordinated lighting, a media credenza to house her books and electronics, and a space-saving dining table that extends for entertaining. We even incorporated a favorite console table from her previous home, now doubling as a buffet.
Once the new furniture was delivered and installed, we completed the move from her primary residence in two days. The day before, we walked through her home to identify essential items. The following day, with the help of movers, everything was packed, transported, unpacked, and styled. Art was hung, TVs were mounted, and the space was fully functional by that evening.
The client was thrilled with the outcome, remarking that it was the smoothest move she’d ever experienced. The final result beautifully reflected her personality and taste—a seamless blend of old and new. It was truly a joy to help her begin this exciting new chapter.
